The Year Six children from Howbridge Church of England Junior School recently took part in a special Enterprise Project to help raise money for their Hawaiian-themed Leavers’ Party.
In groups, the children set up their very own market in the school playground with 20 stalls for visitors to explore. Each stall was given an initial investment of £10 to help them get started on their idea for a product or service. From keyrings and slushies to ice creams and popcorn, each group worked incredibly well as a team and produced some fantastic stalls. The winning teams included Refreshments4U, a tropical slushie stall, and Popcorn Express, who created their own popcorn cones. Both teams almost broke £100 in profit by the end of the day!
Mr Harlow, Assistant Deputy Maths Resource Organiser, said;
“It was a fantastic atmosphere on market day. The children worked really well in their teams and have developed a whole host of business skills and techniques which will stand them in good stead in later life.”
Well done to all the teams who took part – what a fun and creative way to raise money for a Leavers’ Party.
