To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s historic Platinum Jubilee, the Vine Schools Trust launched a special competition inviting all of its pupils to design a congratulatory card for the Queen.
Hundreds of children took on the challenge, taking inspiration from some of the monarchy’s most iconic images, including the Union Jack, the Crown Jewels and the Queen’s portrait. After being flooded with cards, Headteachers from each of the 23 schools had the difficult task of choosing 70 of the most eye-catching entries to post to Buckingham Palace as a way of celebrating the 70 years that she has been on the throne. According to the Royal Household, the Queen is shown all her letters on a daily basis by one of her Private Secretaries, and the children are hoping that she’ll enjoy reading their cards.
Emma Wigmore, CEO of the Vine Schools Trust, said:
“Although all of our schools were running their own Jubilee-themed celebrations, we were keen to do something that would allow every school to come together in a joint celebration. The judges received hundreds of beautiful cards, which are due to be posted to the Queen later this week.”
To bring the school community closer together, each school was asked to film a video of their pupils singing the National Anthem. Complete with flags, decorations and themed dress codes, the children performed some fantastic renditions of the anthem which we’re proud to share with you all.
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, and we look forward to welcoming you all back next term.
