The children of Colne Engaine C of E Primary School have recently made signs for Colne Engaine Parish Council to help explain to locals that a small area of greenery will be left uncut to help create a peaceful habitat for wildlife.
Headteacher, Julie Sarti, said, “We are so lucky to have the support of our local Parish Council and were delighted to be involved in this project. Our children are looking forward to seeing their designs made into real signs for an area of rewilding in the village.”
Colne Engaine Parish Council stated, “The council had an enormously difficult task in selecting just a few of these signs to be used as signage on the green itself. We just wish we could have used them all! In the end we asked a handful of local residents to make the decision for us.”
We totally agree – there are so many wonderful designs here, we really do not envy those who have to make the final decision.
Later in the term, the children of Colne Engaine will be visiting the site to do a mini beast survey with Essex Wildlife Trust, to check whether they have managed to bring more bees and bugs to Colne Engaine.
We look forward to catching up with the school later in the term to hear about their findings!
In the meantime, here is a selection of fantastic poster submissions from the children. Great job everyone!
