We are delighted to announce that Wendy Smith, one of Orsett Church of England Primary School’s Learning Support Assistants (LSA), has been shortlisted for the Teaching and School Support prize at this year’s Thurrock Education Awards.
These prestigious awards were introduced to both recognise and celebrate the inspirational work that is carried out by teachers and support staff throughout the year. This year’s awards received the highest number of nominations on record, with over 500 individuals being put forward by colleagues and members of the local community. After a difficult deliberation, just 44 individuals and teams have been shortlisted across 11 different categories, including ‘Excellence in Early Years Education’ and ‘Going the Extra Mile’.
Mrs Smith, who joined Orsett as a Teaching Assistant in 1992, has been shortlisted for the Teaching and Learning Support prize, with the winners set to be announced at a special awards ceremony on Friday 8th July.
Both Orsett and the Vine Schools Trust are incredibly proud of Mrs Smith for being just one of 44 finalists from 517 nominations and wish her the best of luck in the upcoming ceremony!
