The children at Rivenhall Church of England Primary School recently had a very special visit from The Living Streets charity, including their mascot Strider. It was all part of the popular WOW – walk to school challenge.
The school joined the scheme to remind the children how important being active is and to encourage more sustainable ways of travelling to school. Every morning the children have been making regular recordings of their chosen mode of transport by using the Interactive WOW Travel Tracker; the children who have travelled into school in an active and sustainable way, get rewarded with a collectable monthly badge!
Their extra efforts in recording when they walk or cycle into school has put Rivenhall at the top of the national leader board with an impressive 89.3% Active Travel.
Headteacher, Becky More said: “I think if we create habits now of walking and being active, they’re the things the children will take into adulthood. It’s really important to start those habits now.”
As a Trust we’re so pleased to see the children being active and finding ways to be sustainable! A huge well done to all the children at Rivenhall C of E!
