Last week, children from across the Vine Schools Trust gathered at Chelmsford Cathedral to perform a special concert for parents and carers. Over the last couple of months, several schools have been working with iSingPOP, a charity which offers children from across the UK the opportunity to learn a series of Christian-themed pop songs and stage a final performance to showcase their hard work.
Groups of children from several schools arrived in sunny Chelmsford for a lunchtime picnic before coming together in the cathedral to practice. After some fun vocal warm-ups and a few dance moves, everyone threw themselves into rehearsals and worked together to make sure that they all knew the choreography and the lyrics.
This was the first time that each school had sung together, and parents and carers were thrilled to watch the children singing their hearts out throughout the afternoon. In between songs, the audience was treated to a series of specially chosen prayers about the importance of treating the Vine Schools Trust like one big family. Bishop Roger Morris, who is also the Chair of Trustees at iSingPOP, shared an insight into the history of music and how Christian choral songs have inspired the music of today.
The children sang beautifully and even inspired the audience to join in on the final song! Well done to all of the schools who took part, it was an absolute pleasure to watch.
